Giving Opportunities
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
– Ephesians 4:11-13
Sacred Heart Catholic Parish is blessed to have generous parishioners who appreciate the history, traditions and expenses that are part of this parish. We have many giving opportunities for visitors and members alike. We hope that you see Sacred Heart Catholic Parish as a valuable place to contribute, and we thank you in advance for your generous donation of time or money. Stewardship is a huge part of our parish and consists of time, talent and treasure.
Time
All of our time should be God-centered, which means using our time to honor God. We should set aside a portion of our week to focus on strengthening our relationship with God through prayer, Mass, Scripture reading and serving others.
Talent
We encourage all members to use their talents in some way. Please visit our Opportunity Board page to see where you can contribute.
Treasure
All contributions to Sacred Heart Church are tax-deductible. End-of-year statements are issued to all contributors for tax purposes.
Registered parishioners receive monthly envelopes for weekly contributions. If you desire other arrangements, please call Lourdes Membreno at (936) 521-3711 or email lmembreno@fantastic-pink-whale.15-204-101-117.cpanel.site.

And the same one granted that some would be Apostles, and some Prophets, yet truly others evangelists, and others pastors and teachers, for the sake of the perfection of the saints, by the work of the ministry, in the edification of the body of Christ, until we all meet in the unity of faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as a perfect man, in the measure of the age of the fullness of Christ.
– Ephesians 4:11-13

“God’s Kingdom is the place of abundance where every generous act overflows its original bounds and becomes part of the unbounded grace of God at work in the world.” – Henri Nouwen
Creating a planned gift allows you to support the causes that are important to you and also take care of your family. Please prayerfully consider what gifts you have received and what legacy you will leave for future generations.
Contact Lourdes Membreño at (936) 521-3711 or email lmembreno@fantastic-pink-whale.15-204-101-117.cpanel.site if you would like to discuss planned giving options at Sacred Heart.
As you prepare for the end of year giving, here are some tax breaks you may be interested in:
- Cares Act bonus for charitable giving – The first change provides an additional $300 charitable deduction allowed for those using the standard deduction
- Raising of the deduction Cap for 2020 – The second change lifts the cap on how much a donor can deduct in charitable gifts in a single year. Until the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), individuals could immediately deduct gifts valued at no more than half their adjusted gross income (AGI), with the excess deductible in future years. The TCJA boosted the cap to 60 percent of AGI, and the CARES Act eliminates the cap entirely for 2020. Thus, a donor can fully deduct gifts equal to as much as 100 percent of their AGI this year. For businesses, the new law also increases the limit on the deduction for charitable contributions from 10% to 25% of a corporation’s taxable income.
