Preparation
Prayerfully reflect on your thoughts, words, and deeds to identify any sins by performing an examination of conscience.
Welcome
You make the sign of the cross. Then the priest will say a prayer for you.
Confess your sins
You name your sins. Then the priest will give you advice and a penance.
Make your act of contrition:
You pray the act of contrition. A card is available in the confessional. Then the priest will pray the prayer of absolution.
Congratulations! At this point, your sins are forgiven!
Prayer of Praise:
The priest will help you to give thanks to God. He may say the following:
Priest: “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.”
You: “For His mercy endures forever.”
Priest: “The Lord has forgiven your sins. Go in peace.”
