This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. As this celebration is specific for this date (June 29th), we don’t often celebrate it on Sunday, but this year we do. Saints Peter and Paul are considered the principal pillars of the church.
Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ 2025
This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ; also known as Corpus Christi Sunday. As we are celebrating the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist, the readings are all very Eucharistic in nature and a cursory reading of them will make that apparent.
Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity and our first reading from the Book of Proverbs celebrates the wisdom of God and begins with: “Thus says the wisdom of God.”
A Reflection on the Readings for Pentecost Sunday, June 8, 2025

Readings for the Fourth Sunday of Easter, May 11, 2025
This week, we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Easter, a Sunday that is also known as “Good Shepherd Sunday,” which becomes evident in our gospel passage. But the Easter season is also a time when we celebrate the development of the church in the first century, and that theme is made apparent in our first reading from Acts.
Readings for the Third Sunday of Easter, May 4, 2025
In the season of Easter, we celebrate the development of the church and, specifically, the early Christian community of the first century. There is no doubt that the early church would not have developed amid the hostility of the Jewish hierarchy toward the preaching of the apostles without the power of the Holy Spirit.
A Reflection on the Easter Gospel Readings
There are several readings for Easter depending upon the Mass you attend this weekend; you will hear one of three gospels.
Readings for Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord April 13, 2025
The readings for Palm Sunday are far too lengthy to copy into a reflection, and they are scriptures with which we are all familiar. Palm Sunday celebration begins with a processional gospel proclamation of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem from the Gospel of Luke.
Fifth Sunday of Lent, April 6, 2025
Just as the season of Lent should remind us of our need to do penance and to seek God’s forgiveness for our transgressions, it should also remind us of God’s mercy in granting us that forgiveness. God’s mercy is the theme of our readings this week.
